What Actually Can't Go in the Truck (And What to Do With It Instead)

Most of what people call us about, we take. Furniture, appliances, yard debris, a collapsing shed, a garage nobody's parked a car in for years. But there's a short, honest list of things we don't handle, and it's worth knowing before a truck shows up expecting otherwise. Our fully licensed and insured crew removes almost anything except hazardous materials or chemicals, dirt, gravel, rock, and automobiles.

Hazardous materials and chemicals

Old paint, pesticide, pool chemicals, motor oil, propane tanks, anything with a warning label on it, all of that needs to go through a proper hazardous waste channel, not a regular junk load. Mixing hazardous chemicals in with a truckload of household junk breaks the landfill's rules, and it puts whoever is loading the truck at real risk. If you're not sure whether something counts, ask us when you call rather than guessing. The safe answer for anything with a chemical warning is to keep it separate and check with your county's household hazardous waste program.

Dirt, gravel and rock

These come up a lot after landscaping work or a driveway project, and people are surprised we can't just add a pile of dirt to a load with everything else. It's not that it's dangerous, it's that it's a completely different kind of hauling. Dirt, gravel and rock are priced and moved by weight, not volume, and need different equipment than a standard junk removal job. A landscaping or excavation company set up for bulk material is the right call for that kind of load.

Automobiles

A car up on blocks in the yard, an old truck that hasn't run in a decade, these need a title transfer and usually a tow, not a junk removal crew. A salvage yard or an auto recycler is set up to handle the paperwork and the fluids that come with a vehicle, which is outside what we're equipped or licensed to do.

It comes up more than you'd think on a property that's been cleared out after years of neglect. Somebody parks a car they mean to fix eventually, it never gets fixed, and five years later it's part of the landscape. We can clear everything around it, but the car itself is a separate call to make before or after we're on site.

Why the drop sites around here make this worse than people expect

One of our customers put it well after we worked her job: pricing has to account for how difficult it can be in Lowndes County and Brooks County to dump just about anything at their drop sites. Those sites are genuinely restrictive about what they'll take, which is exactly why hauling a truckload yourself, especially anything on the excluded list above, is harder around here than in a lot of other places. It's a big part of why people end up calling us for the stuff we're able to take, rather than renting a truck, loading it themselves, and finding out at the gate that half of it isn't getting accepted anyway.

Everything else, we take

Outside that short list, we remove unwanted junk and debris from inside or outside your home or business, anywhere on the property we can reasonably access. Furniture, appliances, yard waste, hot tubs, above-ground pools, playground equipment, medical equipment, and general debris from a demolition or a cleanout all fall inside what we handle every week. We recycle whenever possible and donate usable items to a local charity instead of sending everything straight to the landfill. No job is too big or too small, though something unusually large or heavy may call for special equipment and a look at the site first.
